telework and work-life balance

Hello,

My name is Mikel Albizu, I work in Spain as sociologist. Nowadays I am working in a investigation about the possibilities of the telework for the work-life balance. The survey is promoted by the Spanish government, and me and my team are doing a lot of interviews to Spanish relevant experts. Moreover we are carrying out a survey to more than 1.000 women.

Another part of the investigation is to compile some good practices about telework and work-life balance in the abroad, and I guess that maybe you could help me with it. I am interested in any kind of practice, it can come from private organizations or public initiatives

If you know any good practice, and you could show it to me I would be very glad about it

Finally I would like to tell you that we are creating a Web site for all the information, those good practices will appear in it, moreover you could surf and participate in it. I will send you the link of the Web site, as soon as it is available.

why are you making a distinction between work and life? It's all about the perspective you are taking. It's my opinion that most people have difficulties because we try to separate our work life and our private life. In my opinion it is more interesting to do research into the topic of integrating the separated worlds (they're only separated as a consequence of the industrialisation. In our times with all the technology we're able to integrate our work and our life again).

There will be a cualitative investigation that icludes diferent experts´opnions (experts of work/life balance, telework, hum an resources manger that are working in their entrerprises across tlework, teleworker women with children) and there will be a quantitative investigation of spanish worker women.

Hello Henny,

I agree with you in some point, but I think that the distinction in quite real nowadays

First of all, most of the jobs don’t use technology, if you are a cooker or a shop assistant or.... you don’t use technologies in order to do your job. Integration is the point that we must walk to, but I guess is really far from the point that we are, at least in Spain.

Moreover, most of familiar work is done by women, you could check the surveys of use of the time, In Spain women use almost two hour more than men doing this work. It seems really difficult to integrate these two realities for the women, at least in Spain.
